Lee R. Cerling, Ph.D.

A consultant on CEI's team, Dr. Lee Cerling is a professional speech writer, researcher, and editorial consultant, who has been teaching and studying public speaking for nearly 20 years. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of the most effective speakers in American history, Dr. Cerling is an expert at writing speeches that are carefully tailored to match the needs and personalities of a wide range of professionals and business leaders.

Although computers now permeate offices and classrooms, the spoken word remains the single most powerful communication tool available. As their careers progress, business and professional leaders often find that the quality and quantity of their public speaking is expected to increase, even as their time to prepare steadily decreases. Using a combination of interviews, research, and his own writing, Dr. Cerling works with such individuals to create speeches that can be taken anywhere, from the boardroom to the national lecture circuit.

Dr. Cerling received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the University of Iowa, and is currently a faculty member in the Department of Business Communication at the Marshall School of Business of the University of Southern California.
