Joanna Brody
As
a seasoned communications professional, Joanna Brody has extensive public
relations and marketing communications experience in designing social policy,
public health, and specialized marketing campaigns. Her background includes
developing all aspects of public education and public affairs campaigns for a
variety of small and large businesses, as well as healthcare, environmental and
community service organizations. In addition to planning, implementation and
evaluation, her work involves creating internal, external and crisis
communications plans; newsletter and collateral material production; media
relations; and special events management.
Prior to establishing her own business, Ms. Brody was the administrator of
marketing and public relations for the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM),
an international organization of healthcare professionals involved in critical
care research, education and patient care. Ms. Brody handled media relations,
crisis communications, direct marketing and telemarketing, and assisted with
healthcare policy efforts, membership recruitment and retention, and
fundraising. She was successful in obtaining print coverage for SCCM in the New
York Times, Discover Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, the
Orlando Sentinel and several national healthcare publications.
Ms. Brody formerly served as a senior associate at Laufer Associates, a Los
Angeles-based public relations / marketing communications agency specializing
exclusively in social and environmental issue marketing. Her account work
included the City of Los Angeles, Bureau of Sanitation, Recycling and Waste
Reduction Division; the Fulfillment Fund; Charitable Distribution Facility; the
Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers; Southern California Population Crisis
Committee; Mental Health Association and Chrysalis Homeless Assistance Agency.
Ms. Brody has also served as public relations manager for Pebble Beach Company,
directing media relations, special events promotions, employee communications,
and crisis communications for the resort management company. In addition, she
has produced marketing communications projects for the American Cancer Society,
Daniel Freeman Hospitals, American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive
Surgeons, Oakland Unified School District, Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts,
the Annenberg Alumni Association and the Sheraton Premier Hotel.
Ms. Brody earned a master of arts degree in Communications Management, with an
emphasis in public and social policy campaign design, from the Annenberg School
for Communication at USC. She also has a bachelor of arts degree in Legal
Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
