Today more than ever, all of us in this increasingly diverse workforce need to treat each other with respect and appreciation to build the kind of teams that help us achieve great things. But too often, cultural stereotypes and prejudices get in the way of both good relationships and productivity.
At Communication Excellence Institute, we have developed a seminar based on principles of effective cross-cultural communication to raise the awareness and appreciation of differences among staff members from diverse backgrounds. The general purpose of People Working Together is to further promote a positive work environment that includes mutual respect, trust, and understanding.
Upon completion of CEI's People Working Together: Diversity Awareness Workshop, participants will be better able to:
- Develop personal awareness of diversity issues and their impact in the workplace.
- Understand the difference between culture and workforce diversity.
- Distinguish between Equal Employee Opportunity, Affirmative Employment, and Diversity.
- Discover how cultural values impact workplace behavior.
- Communicate respect for individual differences.
- Connect diversity issues to the organization's overall values.
- Identify the costs, human and legal, of discrimination and cultural insensitivity in the workplace.
- Apply enhanced diversity awareness to daily work situations.
This workshop is based on solid research in intercultural communication theory and practice, and involves each participant in an interactive "hands-on" learning experience.
Organizations that have offered this workshop comment that participants improved their interpersonal relationships with all cultural groups and significantly reduced the intensity and frequency of conflict within their teams and in the organization as a whole.
The fee for CEI's People Working Together: Diversity Awareness Workshop is $3,950 per day, plus the cost of any copyrighted instruments used, for up to 25 participants. Additional participants beyond 25 are $100 each. This workshop can also be offered in a 1-1/2 day or two-day format as well (prorated at $3,950 per day), with additional interactive modules.
